Retina changes in the early stages after high-frequency monopolar electrocoagulation through the suprachoroidal access

Retinal detachment (RD) is a condition that requires urgent ophthalmic surgery. Existing methods of RD vitreoretinal correction cause numerous complications and bring inconvenience to patients due the need for vitrectomy postoperative tamponade. Therefore, surgical treatment are promising, which allow forming strong chorioretinal adhesion in short period time after surgery, but damage retina as little possible. With this aim, an experiment on rabbits, we studied consequences features retinal repair high-frequency monopolar electrocoagulation (at current 0.1 A, 10–16 V 66 kHz) by suprachoroidal access with instrument original design terminal sphere 25 G. For experiment, 24 adult rabbits (48 eyes) were used, divided into three experimental groups (6 animals each, 12 eyes each) according exposure voltage (I – 10÷12 V, II 12÷14 III 14 ÷16 V) one control (IV) group, included 6 intact (12 eyes). Micropreparations obtained us euthanasia early surgery (after 1 hour 3 days) showed morphological changes eye tissues places direct contact electrode, remote transitional areas. Edema processes prevailed among these changes. However, during period, could not investigate atrophy, also important recovery acuity visual fields RD. It was decided monitor additional (until end first month experiment), it will be necessary increase group laboratory continuation experiment.
